About the Speaker

Bec Ho

I have always loved connecting and building communities. I know that I’m lucky to have been able to make a career from my passion.

I started my career in customer service where I learnt the foundation of good relationships, and found my niche in marketing. I’ve worked in communications, business strategy, experiential and event marketing before kicking off the next phase of my career – inclusive community creation and placemaking.

I dedicated almost a decade of my life to National charity Touched by Olivia, growing a network of inclusive playspaces supported by public policy and social enterprise businesses and programs.

I was the glue in the unique partnership model, bringing communities, business and all levels of government together to build places where everyone is invited, welcomed and valued.

After many years working with local government, I’ve made the switch and taken a leadership role delivering place based and community outcomes in a Council undergoing significant transformation.

I have worked on state and national public space policy and been recognised for my work both professionally and as a volunteer, receiving the Vodafone World of Difference Grant in 2011, NSW Government Community Service Award in 2013, National Disability Awards Improving Accessible and Inclusive Communities in 2014 and most recently was recognised as Lane Cove Local Woman of the Year 2019.

In addition to my professional community work, I love to give back to communities, and currently volunteer in many roles. In 2018, I transitioned from Executive Officer of Touched by Olivia and joined the volunteer board of the charity as a director. I’m proud to sit on the board of Play Australia, on the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s Everyone Can Play Advocacy Group, in addition to a number of local government committees and groups focused on access, inclusion and playspace development.

I am passionate about great policy and in my spare time, am studying a Masters in Public Policy.

Making Neurodiversity Inclusion Simple

Chris is the Founder of Neuro Advantage – an inclusion training & coaching practice supporting organisations to learn how to be inclusive of Neurodivergent job seekers and employees and helping neurodivergent employees thrive at work.

As a parent of an autistic child and with a career of more than 20 years across multiple commercial disciplines, Chris understands the challenges faced by neurodivergent individuals along with the organisational need for innovation and productivity.

Neuro Advantage’s mission is to break down the barriers of uncertainty and confusion for employers when it comes to neurodiversity inclusion. By making the complexity of neurodiversity more relatable and presenting ideas through personal stories and experiences, Chris’s goal is to help more people feel confident to support neurodivergent colleagues.

Through increased inclusion, organisations and teams stand to gain from the advantages that neurodiversity inclusion brings.
